What We Built Together in 2025 — and What Comes Next
By Alexandra Piatkowski
As 2025 comes to a close, it feels important to pause — not just to tally accomplishments, but to reflect on what this year has meant.
For Piat Public Health, 2025 was about foundations and collaboration. And it was really the fall of 2025 that marked the beginning of this chapter: the moment when an idea officially became a woman-owned public health consultancy, and when a long-held vision started to take shape in the open.
This was a year of conversations. Hundreds of them. Coffee chats, virtual meetings, introductions, check-ins, and thoughtful exchanges with people across public health, healthcare, nonprofit, and community spaces. Some conversations were practical, some exploratory, and many were simply about listening and learning. Together, they created momentum — the kind that doesn’t always show up immediately in traditional metrics, but that quietly shapes what’s possible next.
As public health practitioners know well, numbers alone never tell the full story. Quantitative data helps us see patterns, but it’s qualitative insight that brings meaning and context. The same is true here. Behind every metric from 2025 is a story: a shared idea, a moment of encouragement, a lesson learned, or a connection that reminded someone they’re not alone in this work.
This season was also deeply about people. About investing time in mentorship with students and emerging professionals. About contributing to professional communities and spaces that strengthen our field. About normalizing non-linear paths, entrepreneurship, and values-driven work in public health. And about building relationships rooted in trust, curiosity, and collaboration rather than urgency or transactions.
All of this unfolded during what has undeniably been a difficult year.
2025 was a hard year for the world — and an especially challenging one for public health. Many systems remain under strain. Many professionals are tired, frustrated, and carrying the weight of years of crisis response. And yet, again and again, this year showed the resilience, generosity, and commitment that define this field. People kept showing up for their communities, for one another, and for the belief that things can be better, even when the path forward isn’t clear.
That context makes this foundation-building year feel even more meaningful. Choosing to focus on relationships, collaboration, and long-term impact in a moment of collective fatigue was intentional. It was a reminder that sustainable change in public health has always come from people working together — sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and building something stronger than any one individual or organization could create alone.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who was part of this first chapter of Piat Public Health. To those who took a meeting, offered advice, shared their experiences, collaborated, mentored, learned alongside us, or simply believed in the vision — thank you. Your generosity and openness helped shape what this organization is becoming.
Looking Ahead to 2026: Turning Insight Into Action
As we move into 2026, we’re carrying forward a strong foundation, clear values, and real momentum — and we’re excited about what comes next.
In the year ahead, Piat Public Health will be focused on partnering with public health, healthcare, and community-based organizations to turn insight into action. That means supporting organizations not just to understand community needs, but to translate data, lived experience, and evidence into practical strategies that drive meaningful, equitable change.
Our core areas of work in 2026 will include:
Community Needs Assessments
Equity-centred, mixed-methods assessments that elevate community voice, identify gaps and priorities, and produce clear, usable recommendations.
Evaluation & Learning
Pragmatic, thoughtful evaluation approaches that support learning, adaptation, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning & Implementation Support
Community health improvement plans, organizational strategies, and implementation roadmaps grounded in evidence and co-created with stakeholders.
Data Collection, Analytics & Visualization
Rigorous, equity-informed data collection paired with clear, accessible analytics and visualizations that make complex information actionable.
Project & Program Management
PMP®-certified project management support for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives — bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to work that spans teams and sectors.
We’re especially excited to deepen partnerships, collaborate across sectors, and work alongside organizations that value community voice, equity, and thoughtful, data-informed decision-making. Whether you’re planning an assessment, launching a new initiative, evaluating a program, or navigating a complex project, we’d love to explore how we can work together.
Closing 2025 With Gratitude and Hope
2025 was a year of building — relationships, trust, and momentum — in a time when public health and the world at large have faced real challenges. That context makes this foundation even more meaningful and strengthens our commitment to doing this work collaboratively and with care.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who was part of this journey. You helped lay the foundation for what comes next, and we’re excited to continue building together.
Wishing you a restful holiday season, time to recharge, and a hopeful, healthy start to the new year.
Here’s to turning insight into impact in 2026.
